The chicken pox had a good run at our house, and are now on their way out - much to the chagrin of my daughter. She has had Carl and I look at every bump, red mark, scratch and raised spot of skin that has shown up or thought of showing up on her body. And, oddly, is always horribly devastated that there aren't any real spots there. Nathanael has absolutely LOVED having them, especially since he only has a few, they've quit itching, he never had a fever, and overall his horrible behavior was caused by the fact that he had cabin fever and NOT from feeling badly. He has loved the attention, the sympathy and the extra long vacation. And Noah has liked having someone to play the Wii with. So, overall, the end of this illness will be a blessing to Carl and I both.
My little sister did her favorites of 2009, so Carl and I have decided to do our list as well. We have a horrible memory, and asking us to remember things from the last 12 months is nothing short of cruel and unusual, but here's what we got right now:
Best on the Big Screen:For adults - The Blind Side, Avatar
For kids - Cloudy, With a Chance of Meatballs
Best on the small screen:Adults - Big Bang Theory or the Mentalist
Kiddos - Almost anything on Animal Planet (Carlye says iCarly)
Best in Book Stores:For adults - I'm really not the best to ask, I mostly stick to old books and Christian authors, Ted Dekker, Beverly Lewis, Lori Wick and Tracie Peterson (I do like Shannon Hale, though - thanks Pammy!)
For kids - again, the old stuff, Chronicles of Narnia, Little House on the Prairie, Hank the Cowdog, etc.
Best music - For us - The Revelation Song by Steven Curtis Chapman and anything by Brad Paisley or Celtic Women (I'm so well rounded!)
For the Kids - PureNRG
Best in Food:The breakfast buffet at Hyatt in the Hill Country - seriously, it's good! They have the best egg white, asparagus and white pepper omelet!
Best in activities:Sleeping, Watching Movies and Running for Carl and I - oh and getting a massage!
Bicycling for the kids
Rockbox for the whole family!!!
Best Sports to watch:Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs
Best in Everyday Fun:Swimming at moms when it isn't cold
Eating caramel popcorn and watching a movie as a family when it is cold
I say going to the zoo, but Carl says not so much
So, there's our list. We reserve the right to change our minds at any point and time - seeing as we have bad memories and all.
